Ice Spice and A$AP Rocky Star in Spike Lee’s "Highest 2 Lowest"

Two of New York’s biggest names in music are trading the stage for the screen in Spike Lee’s upcoming film Highest 2 Lowest. A$AP Rocky and Ice Spice both show up, sharing the spotlight with stars Denzel Washington and Jeffery Wright.

For Ice Spice, this is her first-ever acting role.

“I was so nervous because he’s a legend,” she told Rolling Stone about filming with Denzel Washington. “But he made me feel super comfortable, and it was a smooth shooting day.” The Bronx rapper also said she’s “always wanted to be part” of the movie world.

Now she is she’s doing it with some of the biggest names in the game. A$AP Rocky, who’s had a few film appearances before, is taking on a more prominent role in this. Maybe his most important role yet. The trailer hints at his character being wrapped up in the film’s main plot, but we’ll have to wait to see how it plays out.

Set in New York City and inspired by Akira Kurosawa’s High and Low, Highest 2 Lowest follows a music exec (played by Denzel) whose world appears to turn upside down.

Highest 2 Lowest hits theaters August 22nd and starts streaming on Apple TV+ September 5th.
