According to the New York Post, Donald Trump has survived a second assassination attempt.

A gunman was spotted with an assault rifle near the former president’s golf course on Sunday while he was playing a round.

The gunman was spotted at about 2 p.m. by an advance team several holes ahead of Trump.

A Secret Service agent opened fire on the man as Trump played golf causing the shooter with the rifle to flee.

Trump issued a defiant statement after the apparent attempt on his life.

“There were gunshots in my vicinity but before rumors start spiraling out of control, I wanted you to hear this first: I AM SAFE AND WELL!” he wrote in a campaign alert letting supporters know he was unharmed.

Trump spokesman Steven Cheung also said:

“President Trump is safe following gunshots in his vicinity. No further details at this time,”

The man was later arrested by local police on I-95.

Law enforcement sources told The Post the suspect is a white man in his 50s who is believed to be from Hawaii.

An assault rifle was recovered at the scene, which was earlier reported to be an AK-47.

Police and the U.S. Secret Service are investigating.
