SPREAD THE WORD: Homeless Won’t Be Turned Away During Polar Vortex

I couldn’t imagine being homeless right now. Unfortunately, that is the reality for some of our youth and adults here in Central Ohio.
Here is a few shelters that are making accommodations to help those who are looking for a warm place to stay.
The Community Shelter Board wants the homeless to know they have a place to stay. During the winter months, they add over 300 extra beds to try to accommodate everybody. You can call Homeless Hotline at 614-274-7000 to find a shelter for you or someone you may know.

Huckleberry House takes all 12 to 17 year-olds who need a place to stay. The youth can go to what is called a “Safe Place Location” – Metropolitan Library, Worthington Library, fire station or White Castle and call the Huckleberry House to have someone come pick them up. They are available 24/7 and can be reached at 614-294-5553.
The Star House is a youth drop-in shelter for 14 to 24 year-olds. The youth can stay up to 12 hours. For the next two days from 6 p.m. to 11:59 p.m won’t be counted against their time. They can be reached at 614-826-5868, the address is 1220 Corrugated Way.
